Goldwell color with Vanessa

Ormond Beach hair color, planned before it is mixed

From a quiet gray blend to a saturated pink, Vanessa plans every shade she mixes at Hair Goddess Salon, Spa & Boutique on 236 Riverbeach Dr. in Ormond Beach. Before any color is mixed, she asks what your hair has been through and how often you would like to come back.

Vanessa gives you the price once she has seen your hair, before any work begins.

Five Goldwell lines, chosen for each client

Goldwell, a German professional color brand, is the only color brand Vanessa uses, and she works with all five of its lines: Topchic permanent color for gray, ammonia-free Topchic Zero, demi-permanent Colorance for gloss and tone, Elumen direct dye for vivids, and LightDimensions lighteners with bond protection. When she sees your hair, she decides which of them it needs.

How it works

Your color visit, from first call to finish

You will know the plan, how many appointments it may take, and the cost before any color touches your hair.

  1. 01

    Phone the salon

Ask to book with Vanessa and sketch out what you are hoping for, or what went wrong last time. Reception will book the time your visit needs.

  2. 02

    Bring your references

Pictures of shades you love help, and so do pictures of shades you would never wear. Mention everything on your hair today, from box dye and henna to a pink you faded out last spring.

  3. 03

    Settle the plan together

When she sees your hair, Vanessa walks you through the service she suggests, whether it needs one visit or several, the upkeep it brings, and the price. Nothing is mixed until you have agreed.

  4. 04

    Color, tone, and style

Your color goes on and processes, a toner follows when the shade calls for it, and you leave styled, with a short home routine that fits your week.

Color by the ocean

Protecting your color from Ormond Beach sun and salt

Beach afternoons, pool days, and the Florida sun draw pigment out sooner than you might expect. Small habits between visits keep your shade close to how it looked the day you left the salon.

  • Sunshine

Strong UV fades pigment and nudges blonde toward yellow. A wide-brim hat and a leave-in with UV filters go a long way on bright afternoons by the water.

  • The ocean

Salt pulls moisture out and lifts the cuticle, so color escapes more easily. Rinse with fresh water right after your swim.

  • Chlorinated pools

Soak your hair with clean water and comb through a bit of conditioner before you dive in, so it absorbs less chlorine. Light blondes can pick up a green cast otherwise.

  • Mineral-heavy water

Minerals from the tap settle on the hair and flatten its shine. A shower filter helps, and Vanessa can say whether a clarifying treatment is right for your shade.

  • Wash days

Every shampoo lifts a little color, so wash less often when you can, keep the water cool, and choose a color-safe formula.

  • Gloss and toner

The toner on top fades before the color beneath it. When blonde warms between appointments, a toner refresh may be all your hair needs.

  • Which service you choose, and whether it ends with a gloss or toner

How is hair color priced at the salon?

Your price depends on length, thickness, the service itself, and any gloss, toner, or cut added to the visit. Vanessa gives you the price once she has seen your hair, before any work begins. To book, call 386-872-2263.

I am not sure which color service I need. What should I book?

Tell reception what you are hoping for and they will book the right kind of appointment. In broad strokes, balayage gives a soft, sunny grow-out, highlights bring light right from the root, gray coverage gives even color over gray, color correction repairs a result you are unhappy with, and vivid color is for bold shades. Every one of these has a full page on this site.

What happens before any color is mixed?

Vanessa looks closely at your natural shade and any color you have now, and asks how often you would like to come in. Then she explains the plan, the likely number of appointments, and the price. Only after you agree is any color mixed.

What should Vanessa know about my hair history?

Anything you remember: salon color, box dye, henna, lightener, vivid shades, and smoothing treatments. Certain products react with lightener or change how new color develops, so the full picture helps her plan a safe approach.

How much time should I set aside?

It varies. Refreshing roots takes far less time than a correction or a dramatic new shade. Describe what you want when you call, and reception will book the time.

Which color brand will be used on my hair?

Vanessa colors with Goldwell, drawing on Topchic, Topchic Zero, Colorance, Elumen, and LightDimensions lighteners, which together make up Goldwell's five color lines. Our Goldwell page walks through what each one is for.

Can I book color and a haircut in one visit?

Often, yes. Ask for both when you book and reception will plan the time. Color usually goes on first and the cut follows, so your shape is cut into the finished shade.

Where is the salon, and are there evening appointments?

You will find the salon at 236 Riverbeach Dr., Ormond Beach, FL 32176, serving Ormond Beach, Ormond-by-the-Sea, and Holly Hill. Appointments run until 8pm Wednesday through Friday.
