Women's haircuts in Ormond Beach, shaped around how you style it every day
Whether you want bangs, a sharper bob, or simply healthier ends, Vanessa starts by learning how you wear your hair day to day. Then she cuts for that and styles it, so the shape you see in the mirror is the one you take home. Find her at 236 Riverbeach Dr. in Ormond Beach.
Booked by phone. Late appointments until 8pm, Wednesday through Friday.

What happens at your haircut appointment
Four parts, in this order. The first and the last matter as much as the cut itself, because they are why the shape still works after your next wash.
- 01
Talk before scissors
Expect questions about your routine: which side you part on, whether you air dry or reach for a round brush, and what went wrong with the last cut you had.
- 02
A shape built for your hair
Vanessa cuts for your density, your texture, and the part you wear every day, so the shape behaves on an ordinary Tuesday and not only on the day you leave the salon.
- 03
Styled before you go
Your cut is finished with a style. You see where the layers fall once your hair is dry and moving, instead of judging it wet and combed down.
- 04
Your at-home routine
She walks you through drying the front, the brush or iron that suits your hair, and roughly how long the shape should last before you need her again.
Five popular haircuts
Use these as conversation openers. For each one you will see the hair it usually flatters, what happens as it grows, and a typical gap between trims.
- Past the shoulders
Long layers
Keeps the length you worked for while taking out the weight that makes long hair hang flat.
- Best for
- Thick or medium hair that dries slowly, feels heavy, or collapses at the crown.
- As it grows
- Softly. As it grows, the layers settle lower and melt into the length.
- Upkeep
- About every 8-12 weeks
- Works at any length
Face-framing pieces
Shorter lengths at the front that catch your cheekbones and jaw when your hair is down.
- Best for
- Women who rarely wear it up, and anyone in the awkward middle of growing out bangs.
- As it grows
- Once they pass the chin, the front pieces become long, soft layers.
- Upkeep
- About every 6-10 weeks
- Works at any length
Curtain bangs
Bangs split down the middle that open to each side, softer than blunt, straight-across bangs.
- Best for
- Straight or wavy texture, a middle part, and first-time bang wearers who want an easy exit.
- As it grows
- Without drama. Within a couple of months they sweep back into face framing.
- Upkeep
- Bangs about every 3-5 weeks
- Chin to collarbone
Bob or lob
A single strong line that makes thin ends look thick again, cut sharp at the chin or longer and softer.
- Best for
- Fine or medium hair that looks wispy at the bottom, or a clean slate after damaged lengths.
- As it grows
- A short bob blurs within weeks. A lob relaxes into shoulder length with little fuss.
- Upkeep
- Bob about every 4-8 weeks, lob about every 6-10
- Works at any length
Ends-only trim
Your current shape kept as it is, minus the dry, split, or thin ends.
- Best for
- Anyone growing her hair, or protecting lengths that are lightened, colored, or heat styled often.
- As it grows
- Nothing changes in the shape. You keep the length and lose the frayed bottom edge.
- Upkeep
- About every 8-12 weeks
- No name for it?
Explain what bothers you about your hair today
You do not need the right term. Bring what you would like to change, and Vanessa will propose a shape once you are in her chair.
Call to book a cut
Getting the haircut you pictured
Ask ten people what "just a trim" means and you will hear ten lengths. A disappointing haircut often comes down to vocabulary, so here are four ways to describe what you want without any salon jargon.
Call the salon to book- Pictures
Show her the likes and the dislikes
A few photos of hair with a texture like yours do more than a paragraph of description, and a picture of a cut you hated narrows things down just as fast.
For example"I love how soft the front is in this one. I do not want anything choppy on top."
- Routine
Describe your usual mornings
If you air dry and leave, a cut that only works with a round brush will frustrate you by Thursday. Tell Vanessa how much time you give your hair on a normal day.
For example"I let it dry on its own most mornings and use a blow-dryer about twice a week."
- Part and cowlicks
Point out where your hair misbehaves
Show the part you always wear and any cowlick at the crown or along the hairline. Both decide where layers and bangs can begin.
For example"My part is always on the right, and there is a stubborn piece at the back of my crown."
- Shortest length
Mark your line with your hand
Two inches sounds small to one person and drastic to another. Touch your neck, collarbone, or chest at the point you never want to go above.
For example"Please keep the longest pieces at least this long, even with layers."
Getting a cut and color in one visit
If you would like both, say so when you call, and reception will book the right appointment. Planning them together lets Vanessa treat the shape and the shade as one look.
Planning a color change too? Browse the hair color services, or see how balayage softens as it grows before you choose a length. Layers and painted color depend on each other, since the cut decides where the lighter pieces show as you move.
Color usually goes on first
Lightener, color, or toner is applied while every inch of length is still there.
Then the haircut
The most processed ends are removed, and layers are cut to show off where the new color landed.
Then the style
Your hair is dried and styled, so you judge the shade and the shape at the same moment.
The reason for that order: lightening and toning can change the way your hair dries and sits, and cutting afterward takes away the ends that saw the most processing. Mention both when you call so reception can book enough time with Vanessa.
How long to wait between haircuts
Rough ranges by style, meant as a starting point. Curls, fine texture, lightened lengths, and daily hot tools can all move the number, and Vanessa will set a rhythm that fits your cut.
- Bangs3-5 weeks apart
Bangs reach your eyelashes fast, so they need attention between full appointments.
- Short cut or bob4-8 weeks apart
Short shapes depend on a clean edge, and even a little growth softens it.
- Lob or shoulder length6-10 weeks apart
The ends begin to flip out or bend where they meet your shoulders.
- Long layered hair8-12 weeks apart
As layers lengthen they lose their lift and hang heavier.
- Growing it longer10-14 weeks apart
A light dusting stops splits from working their way up the strand.
Clues it is time, even if the weeks say otherwise
- Your ends look sparse or transparent in pictures
- Knots form at the bottom of your hair more often
- It takes longer to style than it did right after your last cut
- Your bangs or layers sit in the wrong place now
How haircut pricing works
Each cut is priced for the person in the chair, because a chin-length bob and thick hair down to the waist are very different appointments. Vanessa confirms your price before she begins.
- Length and density set the starting point, since both add chair time
- Adding balayage, highlights, or other color to the same visit changes the total
- A blowout or styling appointment without a cut also has its price confirmed before work begins
Booking policy
- Change or cancel at least 24 hours before your appointment to avoid a charge.
- Same-day cancellations result in a 50% charge.
- A no-call, no-show results in a 100% charge.
- No refunds once a service has been completed.

Can you cut hair for autistic or sensory-sensitive clients?
Yes. Vanessa is a Sensory-Safe certified stylist, trained through The Sensory Safe Solution. Tell reception what helps when you book, for yourself or your child, so the salon can pass it on to her.
Can I come in for a cut only, with no color?
Yes. Phone 386-872-2263 and tell reception you would like a cut with Vanessa; it includes a finished style. Thinking about color as well? Say so, and reception will book the right appointment for both.
Do you offer blowouts without a haircut?
Yes. You can book a blow dry and style by itself before a dinner, a photo session, an event, or travel. The blowouts page walks through each finish and how to keep one smooth in the humidity, or phone 386-872-2263 to set a time.
See blowout finishesWhat will my haircut cost?
Pricing depends on how long and how dense your hair is, plus any styling or color you add. Vanessa confirms your price before any cutting starts. To book, call the salon at 386-872-2263.
How many weeks should I go between trims?
In general, bangs need attention every 3-5 weeks, short cuts and bobs every 4-8 weeks, lobs every 6-10 weeks, and long hair every 8-12 weeks. When you are growing it out, a light trim at 10-14 week intervals protects the ends. Vanessa will recommend a rhythm for your own cut.
Is there anything I should bring to my appointment?
A few photos of looks you like, plus one you would never want, are the most useful thing you can bring. Come with your hair styled the way you normally wear it so Vanessa sees your everyday part and texture.
Which comes first on the same day, color or cut?
Color is usually done first. Cutting afterward removes the most processed ends and lets the layers sit around the new shade. Mention both when you book.
Can I book a haircut after work?
You can. Late hours run until 8pm on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, so an evening cut is easy to fit in. Reception can tell you which of those times Vanessa has free.
Where is the salon?
Hair Goddess Salon, Spa & Boutique is at 236 Riverbeach Dr., Ormond Beach, FL 32176, serving Ormond Beach, Ormond-by-the-Sea, and Holly Hill.
What happens if I need to cancel?
Change or cancel at least 24 hours before your appointment to avoid a charge. Same-day cancellations result in a 50% charge. A no-call, no-show results in a 100% charge. No refunds once a service has been completed.
